Jeep Willys, 1948

Built mainly during the Second World War, Willys MB Jeep ¼ t was used by the armed forces of the United States on all fronts of battle, being snapped in an impressive number of copies and allies, thus becoming the main vehicle used by the British Army, Soviet and French. Jeep name was borrowed from the pronunciation of the acronym GP (General Purpose, ie general use). In the next period of the Second World War, The term Jeep military vehicle show almost every light, unarmoured, with a similar look of the original Jeep.
Originally, the basic design was a very rustic exterior vehicle: a platform on four wheels with a motor compartment rectangular shape, a protected cockpit easily sidebars that do not exceed in height the engine compartment. The windshield, made up of two separate windows frame were generally folding. Subsequently, several amendments were made to the body, adjusting it needs military officers linked to off-road transport.
Mod Willys Engine 442 series was called and Go Devil, a gasoline engine, the four-cylinder 2196 cm3, 54 hp at 3700 rpm. The transmission was a three speed plus reverse, and traction on all four wheels. The car was provided by hydraulic shock absorbers, four-wheel independent. The first Willys MB models had metal grille bars, the headlights were mounted on the top bar and were mobile, so it can be folded into the engine in case of repairs.
Jeep was built mostly by Willys and Ford, but a number of specimens belong Bantam manufacturer. Each of the three production series differed in several aspects from the basic design described above.
After the Second World War and following a trial with manufacturer Ford to legitimize the use of the term "Jeep" which comes out the winner, Willys produced its first vehicle in a version intended audience - CJ Civilian Jeep - is also the first 4x4 Civil automotive market. The first CJ had essentially the same characteristics as the Willys MB, the vehicle used by the American military during the Second World War. News were visible in the variety of colors available for civilian Jeep, Type Naugahyde seat comfort and chromed applications. From the mechanical point of view, a heftier T-90 replaced the T-84 model MB.
After production CJ CJ 1 and 2, in the period 1945-1949 appears CJ 2A version. The experience of previous versions helped develop the first mass production version CJ 2A, which had the appearance of a civil MB with a rear tailgate and side mounted hand wheel. One of the major differences of the two cars was their grid: MB had recessed headlights and nine openings in the grille and larger headlights CJ 2A was mounted on a grid with seven openings. At the level of motorisation, CJ 2A was equipped with an engine L-134 Go-Devil.
