Here’s an interesting series of videos filmed during the 1950s showcasing the background of the design process in post war America. The second video takes us behind the scenes at Chevrolet’s actual development center, back when the brand was in its heyday and was a leader in automotive design.

Built mainly during the Second World War, Willys MB Jeep ¼ t was used by the armed forces of the United States on all fronts of battle, being snapped in an impressive number of copies and allies, thus becoming the main vehicle used by the British Army, Soviet and French. Jeep name was borrowed from the pronunciation of the acronym GP (General Purpose, ie general use). In the next period of the Second World War, The term Jeep military vehicle show almost every light, unarmoured, with a similar look of the original Jeep. Epic EV to supply Electric DeLorean with composite bodies

Filed under: EV/Plug-in , Lightweight , USA The arrangement that has Epic EV supplying the drivetrain for the DMC Electric DeLorean has apparently been working out so well that the two companies have decided to tap yet another of Epic's areas of expertise: composites. Weight management is an important aspect of electric vehicle design and it was realized that DMC could shave 200 pounds off their retro-futuristic product by replacing the old-school fiberglass material that makes up the main part of the chassis with a modern lightweight resin-infused composite. Not only that, but the new stuff is much stronger, which gives the Electric DeLorean better roof crush and side impact protection. Short history of Cadillac

Cadillac was born out of the closure of Henry Ford when Henry Ford left with some of his key partners and the company was dissolved.  With the intention of liquidating the company's assets, financiers left over from Ford's departure, William Murphy and Lemuel Bowen, called on engineer Henry M. Leland of the Leland & Faulconer Manufacturing Company to evaluate the plant and equipment before selling them. Instead, Leland convinced them to continue their car manufacturing business by equipping them with a single-cylinder engine designed by Leland.  The company needed a new name after Henry Ford left. On August 22, 1902, the company was renamed the Cadillac Automobile Company. Leland & Faulconer Production and the Cadillac Automobile Company merged in 1905. German OEMs pick one electrical charging connector to rule them all

In the 90s, the General Motors EV1 didn't use the same kind of plug as the Toyota RAV4 EV , and that meant electric vehicle charging stations had to keep multiple adapters on hand if they wanted to service to multiple machinery. If there's any hope that EVs will take off in popularity over the next few decades, some standardization is in order.
