The brand was developed in communist Romania, in the years 1960-1980, in a parteneriat with French producer Renault. In the 2000s, the plants in Romania were bought by the French manufacturer, including the Dacia brand. A subsequent company, Group Dacia Renault, was established, with production units in Romania - at Pitesti, Mioveni - the main plant, Titu, Oarja and Bucharest. Also, the Dacia brand, with new models designed by Renault for low market, has becoming an important global player. Relaunched in 2004 with the Logan model, Dacia has become a well-known player in the European car market.
